Hey old-school music lovers, feeling a bit nostalgic. Prepare to be regaled by the wonderful sound of the R&B, Classic Soul Cover Band, Cali-Groove Association. This Bay Area band will take you on a trip down memory lane with the music of the 60s,70s,80s and more. Featuring Noel Fontanoz on keyboards, Larry Baines on guitar, Pete Monillas on bass, Douglas Longmire on drums, and Milton Mcgriff on percussion, the band will delight audiences with the smooth voices of its vocalist, the brothers Ajamu, Alex and Shawn Stewart. 

Vallejo native Shawn Stewart started Cali-Groove Association out of a deep passionate desire to entertain people and continue love for music. An accomplished vocalist and songwriter, Shawn wanted to remain involved in music and thus began the process of putting together and forming a cover band. At the start, Shawn was the sole lead singer and the band had five members. Much to his surprise, his brothers Ajamu and Alex decided to join the band as vocalist, and the three siblings became frontmen for the band. Ajamu took on first tenor and falsetto, Alex is the baritone and rough, and Shawn holding the harmonies, in the second tenor range. The three frontmen vocalist are seen as the heart and soul of the band and they are what makes the group standout from other cover bands. The trio boast a grass roots of soul and strong r&b background, to create their distinct acapella sound to the band. Their influences include the Temptations, the Delfonics, the Dramatics and the Ojays, and most of the stand-up groups of the past eras. Mix their sound with experienced, quality musicians, and the Cali-Groove Association may be looking to dominate the East Bay music scene in the years to come. The cover band is ready for gigs at festivals, fairs, weddings, nightclubs and other venues.
